Prizes!
Everyone who submits an entry receives four free tickets to The Young Playwrights Festival, as well as one page of feedback about their play from a professional theatre artist.
TEACHERS: The class that submits the most entries will receive a free Playwriting Workshop with award-winning playwright, Brian Guehring.
Four winners will receive scholarships for the Young Playwrights class in Fall of 2016, as well as a staged readings of their plays in a special event following or preceding The Young Playwrights Competition.
The Grand Prize Winner receives a fully realized production of his/her play in The Young Playwrights Festival and a scholarship to the Young Playwrights class is 15-16!
They are also entered into the national competition, where they compete for the opportunity to travel to Washington DC (room/travel paid for contestant and 1 family member) in order to hear a stage reading of their play by professional actors at the renowned Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
The top ten winners in the national competition will have their plays made available online for middle school teachers to use in their classrooms.
